Hello,

Newbie, my apologies if asked and answered. Seeking advice on replacement vent actuator that stopped working. I have a quote from SeaRay dealer but looking for other options.

Thank you

Todd

The vent window on my 340 would occasionally stop working if I opened it all the way. I found that if I would wiggle it, it would start working. I was never sure if was the electrical connection or the motor.

The actuators are not serviceable.

Thank you. I appreciate the lead.
They are very easy to disassemble. Parts, however, are not available.
I think you will find that 90% of the issues with these are the seals and seal pockets for the ram degrade to the point they are sticking so bad the unit will not actuate. There are several threads here on CSR that discuss how to disassemble, replace the two O-ring seals, lubricate and get back into operation.

If it is out of alignment (not a true 'right angle T' where the ram meets the horizontal bar) it can bind restricting movement.

If I were you before you replace it lube it up good with some silicone lubricant. I was having trouble with mine on my 310 and was going to replace it and all it needed was some spray. After a few times of spray it worked like new. Good Luck I hope yours is that easy.

Definitely lubricate! I use slick50 spray each year on mine. Also, try not to over extend or close it to the point of the motor winding down to a stop under the binding. If it is shot and you have a power seat, it is the same actuator so you can use it as a replacement.

If I replace the actuator, is the wiring involved as simple as cutting the wires at the old actuator, and then butt connecting the wires of the new actuator?

First have someone push or pull on the window as you operate the switch, most of these have a micro limit switch built in so they shut down if overrun there length or to closed in. This might pull it off the limit and start to operate again.( I am assuming you have checked for voltage already while hitting switch.)

Have all your measurements ready -closed length, open length, ram diameter,--search for" linear actuator cheap".
You should find many at 1/10 the price of searay. The strength shouldn't be an issue with just a window on it.

The vent window on my 340 would stick sometimes but if I simply wiggled the actuator and it would start working again.

Any one know how to access the recessed vent actuator on a 48 Sundancer?
