Vehicle tires killing salmon in Pacific NW

Dang, I knew tires should be made out of steel not rubber so we wouldn't have this anti-oxidant problem. But then, we'd have a problem with rust killing salmon. Well maybe we should make tires out of wood because wood certainly wouldn't kill salmon. Or maybe make tires out of solid glass. Or maybe out of granite. Or maybe....

I wonder how much money the feds gave these people for this survey grant. Whats true only 1% of the smolt return as adults because of being prayed upon in the open ocean and in their journy to the the sea. The tires would have little effect to these smolt unless there was a heavy rainfall and runoff during their journey i would believe.

Is it only the salmon that are affected? How about the rest of the wild life, other fish, insects, frogs ect? That will take another 6 million dollar grant to study that I guess. Then what? Will we all pay a special tax on tires to offset this impact or will they ban the use the antioxidant compound and then we will just have to change tires more often?
