Hello I am a 360 2005 SD owner, my port tranny has lost all of its flued into the bilge. I could see medal shavings on the floor right below the tranny and it looks like the shaft may have rupped against the tranny casing and ground it down to a point that it leaked out all of the fluid. The interesting thing is the tranny still functioned getting in the slip and there was no excessive heat and the tranny did not seas up. Has anyone had tranny or shafts issues like this?

lost the output shaft bearing which in turn failed the seal. Saw the fluid in the bilge in time to save the tranny. Replaced the bearing and seal. While it was apart I replaced clutches and other seals. All is good.

Thanks Happy Hour that sounds like what happened to me as well. How long did you run before you saw the fluid in the bilge? Did you do the work? if not about how much did it run for the repair?

fortunately my oil level had only dropped to about half full when I noted it. I pulled it myself and did the repairs. I have
heard numbers in the $ 3k range plus the R&R out of the boat. Fortunately I was able to get the tranny out without completely
pulling the engine.

My levels were lower then that, I think as low as 1/4. Thanks again for the info the boat is at the dealer for winterization so they will let me know this week what the damage will be.

5oclocksw, did you have any other indicators of a problem? my stbd transmission is louder than the port and there's a vibration but i also have a cylinder that doesn't quite fire under load (waiting for a fuel injector and plug)...
was going to see if that covered it.

No other indications or alarms, it was the Bilge float switch getting stuck that drove me to go into the ER to check what was going on.
