i have a 280 sundancer 2004 with twin 4.3's that just started to vapor lock on the fuel system [248 hours on engines] . talking with other owners and dealer all 4.3 are having this problem. first they blamed the fuel. the answer i was told now was to install a electric fuel pumps on both engines. Check valve on fuel cooler is fine never had this problem before this year. if you pour cold water on fuel filter unit will start up and run fine

How old is your gas? Running winter blends in hot summertime can cause this problem as well.

I have a 2006 280 Sundancer with 4.3's and after no trouble for over 2 years, its now vapor locking. I have only 123 hours on the engines and the extended 6 year warranty to boot. Mercury marine has stated there is a problem with the engines and the tight engine room, but will not pick up the cost of installing the boost pumps that they want installed to solve the problem. This company sucks, I paid $130,000 for this boat and their warranty, but no help.
