I own a 1996 27' Sundancer with a 7.4 MercCruiser, Bravo 3. I recently posted my story of running the boat for 3 hours, stopping for 2 hours and then upon re-starting the boat stalled after 5 minutes and would not start for over half an hour. My mechanic thinks it might be vapor lock. I thought vapor lock only occurred in older engines with carburetors. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I thought that vapor lock would present as an inability to start a hot engine at all - not as a hot engine that starts and runs for 5 minutes then dies (?)

Doesn't sound like vapor lock.
That occurs when restarting a hot engine (which yours wasn't after sitting for two hours) where the fuel vaporizes while still in the fuel system. Was more common with older engines w/mechanical fuel pumps and carbs.
