Though I am dreading the rental boats and ensuing chaos this brings - can't wait, it was a phenomenal show from the boat deck last year in English Bay.

Dave

PS - just read a note from Yacht Club that washing boats is banned from July 21st due to water shortage, - I guess I will get to see the fireworks soot for some time also to help remind me of the fun night

Been to these several times in the past when i owned my 280. Fantastic light show and great opportunity to share with friends who don't get out on the water often. Don't anchor inside the buoys close to the fireworks barge though, the harbour police get a little cranky about that LOL! Best advice would be to wait it out after the show and let all the drunks and crazies race each other to the boat launches. Enjoy!

SeaAyeOwe, what club do you belong to up there? I'm in the VERY early stages of planning a trip to your waters and always looking for reciprocal moorage. What area of the bay around Vancouver is the fireworks show in?

GFC - We belong to False Creek Yacht Club just as of this year - we moved our boat across from eagle Harbour because we moved into downtown Vancouver from West Vancouver.

The fireworks are set off from barges on the north side of English Bay west of Granville. Basically you can be anywhere in English Bay or any part of the Salish Sea and you will get a great view. We will typically drop anchor on the south side of false creek channel in English Bay.

Let me know when you are at that stage if you need reciprocal or even temp medium term moorage and I will speak to the Commadore and marina manager and I am sure we can arrange something. I am also familiar with quite a few other marinas so do not hesitate to reach out to me as you are planning the details.

Club is In an ideal position if you live in central Vancouver, just across the creek from Granvile, island - we literally can see the diners on the island and so on from the deck of the boat, and often use the tender to run around.

We love the club - the club is owned by its members, we have made some great new friends, but I will say though, compared to what I am used to, and what I see in the pics of some of your slips, the club infrastructure is a little worn out at the moment. Healthy balance sheet, really prime location, great member base - but needing an injection of life and energy.
