1987 Weekender 300
Engines
350 inboards
New member here. I have been looking for a 1987-89 Weekender 300. I found a real nice one but the owner wants $23000. What is the going price for these boats? Thanks so much !!

Welcome to CSR!

You didn't mention where you live, what engines it has, amenities or electronics. Condition, salt or fresh? Hard to tell what it's worth. I've attached a screenshot of the NADA for the boat with bare bones.

Sounds high to me but hope they get it...only helps the value of mine then :p

Depending on condition I would say anywhere from about $8000-$20000ish. Too many variables to say for sure.

Thanks guys, It has Mercruiser 350 inboards with 700 hours all original. Newer canvas top (no camper top) new stereo. AC and heat, Windlass. Freshwater boat from the Great Lakes. No trailer.

I sold my 1989 300 Sundancer last December for $21,500. I was 2nd owner, always Great Lakes use. Full canvas, drop curtain, camper, cockpit cover. Included downriggers and rod holders. Full electronics (sonar, GPS, radar, autopilot) although everything was 15 years old. Had about 1400 hours. Condition was good to very good. It had some upholstery wear but the hull was spotless and had a new shine. Needed new cabin flooring. You can use this info as a comp for that vintage of boat. I had two offers at that price during winter.

I just did a search on Yachtworld. There are 6 300we listed from a low of $15,000 to a high of $24,000 (he's dreaming). You said the one you're looking has AC, does it have a generator? Based in the info you've provided it sounds too high to me....unless it's Bristol and even at that it would have to mean it needs absolutely nothing....but gas. One other thing....you said the engines were Merc 350s. I'm assuming you are saying 350 cu. in. as in 5.7 liter and not 454/7.4L 350HP motors (340HP) which is the preferred engine package.

Another thought.... Does it have to be the 30' Weekender? I also did a search for an '87-'89 340 Express and 27 popped up, but some were Sundancers. They are priced from $10k-$32k. I understand if you like the Weekender, I do too, but the 340 Express is a similar layout but has soooo much more room. I've owned an '89 340da and loved it. Just a thought.

No generator and has the small block 350 cu. inch motors (260 hp). I really do like the 340 Express also but it is a little big for my slip. I have also been chatting with another guy about his weekender 300. Same year and options. Has rebuilt Crusader's 350 cu. in. with only 450 hours on them. Boat looks nice and he only wants $9000. Only thing it doesn't have that I would really like is the factory radar arch. Too bad boat is 6 hours from me.

Do the 340! I have my Sundancer in a 15' wide slip with 18" fenders!
You can do it!

I had a 268 DA and installed an Atlantic aluminum arch on it and then had the 300 DA with the factory arch. For my purposes, I much preferred the pipework arch over the factory arch. It was a bear to feed wires and the radar cable through that factory arch. No problem with the aluminum arch.

not sure where you are.I'm in long island NY.have been thinking of downsizing from my 1988 30 weekender.has twin 350 CID small blocks.manifolds/risers replaced 2016,trans coolers replaced 2017.port rebuilt carb 2017.think hour meter around 650ish.its a clean reliable boat.really love the boat but kids growing up losing interest, looking at 23-25 boats as only me and the wife most of the time.has a/c and central vac.originally had generator, has garmin color gps and an older raymarine radar.lots of new stuff,I'm forever tinkering with stuff making the boat better..would let it go for around 12K.thinking gonna list on craigslist.the weekenders are great boats with the inboards, sundancers have outdrives.

I sold my 1989 300 Weekender w/twin 454's & Onan Gen. I had replaced all of the cockpit upholstery, replaced electronics, microwave, TV and added dripless shaft seals, I got $30k for 10 years ago....

We paid a few k more for our 1989 280 Sundancer five years ago. There were a few less expensive boats on the market. We have not had a one problem with the thing. Was one of the best things my wife and I have done. I called the last owner last year and thanked them for selling it to us. My point is, I didn't want problems and we had no idea what we were doing when we bought it. We both just said , this is the one, then had to save more money. Absolute almost best day of our lives, buying it. Next best day is when we find the 400 of our dreams. And have the money to buy it

Price is very subjective on a boat of that age. I've seen 87 300's from 5k (real dog) to 20k (turn key mint boat).

The key is finding a workable boat that is dry (stringers) (deck near rails) (bulkhead).
once you find that next is the engines, crusaders were optional and desirable.
At that point you have to decide what you want to put into it.
I did the above , spent another 5k in upholstery,ac,windless and engine maintenance and I have the boat I want. All said I now have 23k invested and love the boat, the ride and the handling. I hope this helps.

I purchased the boat in question after looking at a lot of boats with rotten stringers and stained headliners. This boat is rock solid and super clean. Very happy with it. Everything works as it should and the boat runs like a top.
