vacu flush not drawing a vacuum

Just go back one (1) page on this thread and read the detailed instructions I gave. Follow those on the pump system sitting on your main tank and, trust me, it will be easy and you'll be a hero. I even covered the small little screws. Make sure you get 4 duckbill valves from somewhere first... you need new ones.

OK - will go back - i remember seeing that...
I am not sure if i can find new ones tonight - I don't think West Marine carries them?? I thought you can clean...if so - will at least do that today just so I have it for this weekend...and then can always order new ones.

You can't clean them... they are rubber and lost their elasticity and just don't work anymore. It's not that they are dirty but they are not holding their shape. West Marine does carry them... One size fits all... as long as they are for vacuflush.

You need 4... per my instructions, there are 2 on each side of the bellows pump.

This forum is worth its weight in gold ... Ok, so I'm cheap. I know forum's don't have any weight.

Thanks everyone esp. Gary.

Looks like this weekend is going to be kinda crappy for me.

Hello all, I'm not sure if this is the best forum to post this or not but here it goes.

After last weekend just before we left the Marina, I did the normal checkup before leaving the boat and noticed something was up with my Vacuflush unit.

The flush ball? stayed open apparently after the last flush. The foot pedal still springs back up as usual EXCEPT, when I depress it the opening in the bowl closes. It is as if it is working backwards with the ball staying open instead of closed. Everything else seems to check out and I could not find any obvious reason for it to stay open on its own as far as trapped items, etc.

Does this sound like anything particular to anyone?? The closest thing I saw in the manual was a spring-box cartridge maybe. Any ideas greatly appreciated. Thanx.

First off. Thanks to all (especially Gary) for the detailed instructions. I rue the day I have to tackle this project.

Could the ball and lever slipped 90*? I don't know for sure if it could happen, but that sounds like a potential as well for what you described.
