Started in whiteHall in 1-3' waves heading to Ludington, closer we got we were heading into 7' waves what a ride sort of like Deadliest Catch. Waves didnt cooperate the whole vacation, on final ride home waves laid down to 1 foot or less. And what's up with NOAA, never an accurate report for waves. We had a nice vacation in Frankfort thank you Jacobsons marina it was Nice!

We loved our stay at Jacobson's. Sorry about the weather and waves. Our 4th weekend weather has sucked. Where is the REAL summer?

We've been having the same problem on Puget Sound NOAA reports less than 1' waves 4-5 knot winds get out on the water a couple hours later we're in 15 knot winds gusting to 22 with no small craft advisory. We responded to a boat going aground about 5 miles north of us last week was in contact with the CG all the way there telling them seas were getting bad 2-3' wind waves get upto where the boat is supposed to be CG says they got a tow back in thanks. Told the CG seas were getting worse wind waves up to 5' wind 15 knots gusting to 22 still no advisory or warnings, it took 2 hours at 5knots to go 5 miles to our marina barried the bow on about every 3rd or 4th wave we were taking the waves on starboard side and bow travelling south with WSW winds not a fun day at all.

All I know is it certainly doesn't feel like summertime , maybe it's old age and responsibilities ...... Months go by like weeks and what the Hell there goes July 4th.... And it feels like June 4th

Ludington was real nice all weekend once the fog lifted Thursday noon and the lake was calm Friday through the weekend. The bad part was the SW air that put us downwind all weekend from the Badger soot. That was nasty and may ultimately cause me to swap ports. What's your recommendation if I were to consider Whitehall/Montague as a home port?

PLAYDOUGH....I'd choose Crosswinds, it's a nice Marina, though a few Sail boats are there, We can't offer anymore slips at Ellenwood until they dredge again... lost two docks to sand brought down by the floods from White River...The City municipal dredge this year and is house a few of Ellenwoods slip owners that can't get their boats into the slips they own...but it's not full by far at the municipal.
The Soot is why we moved, it was horrible and I'm not into destroying our boat with Coal Acid....
Check out Crosswinds, Eric can help you out, he runs the place and has winter inside/outside storage too.

We may or may not make a marina move (I'm looking at Holland to Manistee) but it was a bit ridiculous that I couldn't sit out on the deck of the boat for four hours a day this weekend while the Badger was in port because I was literally getting dirty. I was so in hopes that the EPA was going to do the right thing and shut that operation down this year. Didn't happen and probably won't. Loads of politics involved.

Playdough-

I was there with you. In D38 all last week, washed my boat 3 times to get the soot off, everytime the Badger was parked in port, coudn't stand breathing it and didn't want my kids around it. Not to mention the early "wake up" call with hearing their horn blast at 6:30 in the morning! Ludington is such a beautiful port, and great activity for kids, but it's ashamed more isn't being done to get the Badger to update. So many boaters complain, makes me wonder why the marina owners (oops, same owner of the Badger???) or City aren't more involved. I fear many will move after a few seasons as we are thinking the same.

Anybody know if the fishing is as good near Whitehall/Montegue as it is in Ludington. Closer drive, just as pretty, but sure to like to be able to go to the point and know there will be fish there (most times)?

True North , 1st the fishing this year is crappy all over from Holland to Frankfort. Last year we were doing well in Whitehall once we got out to the water. Nothing is as good as Ludington for fishing, damn it's the salmon Capitol of Lake Michigan .
Slip pricing is good in whiteHall and I only have to wash the boat every other week and we never get soot on the boat maybe just some bird droppings lololol. Come join us in whiteHall Montague , we Love it!!!!!

We stayed a weekend in Ludington a couple years ago and concluded we did not want to deal with the Badger again.
We moved from Grand Haven to Terrace Point in Muskegon this year. We love it here. Floating docks, nice restaurants, a great bike trail around the lake, concerts in the park on Fridays, indoor and outdoor pool, a good lake to use when Lake MI is too snotty, etc. A good move for us. Sold out of slips but check it out Fall/Winter for next year. Good luck.

Ok what the hell it's too hot to go boating , lake michigans east coast has 5' waves and building and yet it's 91' outside Holy Crap it's Hot

What about you down there in Muskegon SUM???

It is really pretty on the west side at Northpoint...

Wasn't bad in the shade and the restaurant was great. Lots of bikes in town for bike week. So we left this morning for White Lake and are anchoreed in Indian Bay. Nice afternoon!
