Now that fall is about to end my boating season (winterizing this week) I'm turning my attention to a new toy I just got. Sold my Honda CRF250x and got a new Polaris RZR 900 s. Wasn't enjoying the bike as much as it's a pretty solitary thing and the risk of injury was ever present. I now have a new favorite fall, winter and generally yucky weather vehicle!! Anybody else? I'm planning on taking some trips to West Virginia, KY, and Tenn. Would love to meet up with fellow riders. Lots of these major trail locations (Hatfield- McCoy) have hundreds and hundreds of miles of trails.

Cool toy and faster than all getout. My son just bought the same machine in blue, and after he got it he spent a couple of thousand installing a killer stereo, GPS system and some other stuff.

You're gonna have a ton of fun with that baby.

Exactly! It's just like boating! No wonder I already love it. I've added the front bumper and plan to add the seat harnesses.

+100 on the harness. And be careful, you wouldn't believe the story I read about a guy in AZ in one of these things.

No doubt. Plenty of horror stories out there. I'm not an "extreme" rider. I prefer the slow trail riding through moderately challenging conditions.

JimG- where to you like to ride? I see you're in WV and we are planning to do Hatfield-McCoy next weekend. Any tips suggestions for a new guy?

I have never been on a H/M trail... too many rules for me!

We ride what they call the "outlaw" trails... basically any trail that's not in the H/M system.

They are fun. My only piece of advice is to keep your hands and arms completely inside the vehicle at all times. Nets or cages are good add ons. Those vehicles have created a rash of hand, wrist, and forearm fractures from people hanging onto the roll bars during an accident. Roll it into a sharp rock or tree and they won't bother trying to reattach your hand. I have seen this first hand.

That is one bad azz toy...I'd probably kill myself in no time at all.
Sound like your a conservative driver but, careful of the others.

Seat warmers

I'm currently specing out a Polaris 6x6 for our fire department. we need the bed capacity for a skid pump and to have it tow our little rescue boat. the chief and I are still butting heads on aftermarket seat warmers. maybe I'll just buy them myself and install them....

Well, we did 2.5 days of riding the Hatfield-McCoy trails. Wow, what a great time! absolutely beautiful county and amazing endless miles of trails. We covered about 175 miles total. Lots of changes in elevation. Some technical hills but only a couple somewhat frightening climbs. Here's some pics and short video if I can get it uploaded.
