Hi all, new to the forum and looking to replace my SR 175 red carpets with something more modern. I'm seeing snap-in carpet kits for 400, DIY marine kits on amazon for 150ish, then marine carpet squares where you're on your own cutting and fitting. Does anyone have a good sense of brands that would be advisable?

Thanks

Post some links to what you're seeing - I'm generally up to speed on these things, but I'm not sure what you're referencing.

You have glue-in carpet, right? That's quite a big project to remove all the carpet, paint or gelcoat the floor, then make a template for the new carpet, then install the new carpet.

But, Conrinthian marine and Snap In carpets are both tried-n-true companies to deal with.

Corinthian did right by me. I worked hard at the templates and was advised by a thoughtful lady always available by phone. Fit depends on the accuracy of the template you create. I had a limited production Campion outboard and was happy they had a template. Doubts arose and they sent the template out to me to check fit. It was not good but I carefully modified it, cutting and taping. They cut the carpet to this modified template and I got a very good fit. I suspect they had electronically stored a prior purchaser's clumsy effort and my mods were evolutionary. Making a template is not easy.

Thanks all for the suggestions! While it's still in the 40's in Seattle I'm going to attempt DIY with new carpet, as it looks like only 1-2 companies have the 175 carpet template. Thank you

I put the carpet on an existing fiberglass floor, using a minimum number of snaps, avoiding wrinkles. The carpet option with non-skid backing was helpful. Get ahold of the template on heavy brown paper and check and modify it in advance of OKing the cutting of the rug. The $45 charge was totally justified although I would have been happier if it had demonstrated a perfect fit.

Actually clear plastic fiber reinforced works better to make a template….. ships better and doesn’t tear
