Urbanna Oyster Festival November 2nd and 3rd

Looks like we will be there Friday and will be anchored out for the weekend with everyone else. It looks the following will be there so far:

Truly Blessed II 42 DA
River Gal 44 DB
Four Suns 480 DB

Oyster snorting contest will be Saturday at 10 PM on Truly Blessed II. Bring video camera.

The St Michaels oysterfest came and went last weekend in spite of the weather. The ride over on Saturday was mostly wet but with surprisingly calm seas. The trip back on Sunday was dry but in unpredicted 25-30 mph N winds with 3-4’ seas.

Good thing the Oysters were great! We ate them steamed, raw, fried and stewed – mmmmmmm

Hope your snorting time in Urbanna is a good time had by all. I’ll put it on the schedule for next year, but as they say “I think we need a bigger boat”.

hello everyone.
we used to live in richmond and went to the festival in urbanna every year. we kept our 330 da in deltaville.
a few hopefully words of wisdom:
it is extremely crowded and there is essentially no marina space to have. i bet it is all rented out for years to come. as you go up the rappahanock and enter the channel to urbanna inlet, do NOT cut it short. very shallow and tons of crab pots usually. follow the markers and stay on the reds. as you enter the town basin, there are two areas to anchor out, before and after the bridge. before is a zoo, you can almost walk across the creek from boat to boat on fri and sat. after the bridge is a little more secluded. all the festival action is on the starbord side as you go up the creek.
if you want to see contrast, hang around until sunday. we used to stay until sunday pm, and you will be one of the only ones left in the harbor. the town is cleaned up overnight, and back to its sleepy character of 5000 people. they will draw 100k fri and sat.
have a great time, we wish we could be there.

Well... this is turning out to be a sucky weekend. They've just put Gale warnings up on the Chesapeake Bay through Friday night due to Noel being off shore and a strong cold front and high-pressure ridge moving in. Winds are supposed to be gusting up to 40 knots out of the north.

I'm in a bad mood now. Need to go browse the other threads and find someone to pick on.

I'm still looking for a plan to go through Hell and back...

How bad can a Gale be in November anyway... Other than that Edmund Fitzgerald thing...

Well.. Shame on me for saying "How bad can a November Gale be..."

They just upgraded it to Storm warning now with winds pushing 50 knots...

I think Four Suns is tied up at the dock for the weekend. I better not see any "Noel" Christmas decorations around the house this year... not one...
