Has anyone re-upholstered there own seats? I found vinyl, but have had no luck finding foam. I need to re-do the helm bench.

I added a bench seat that I bought from a company out of Indiana......as far as foam goes I believe you want " closed cell " so as to not soak water up....sorry but I don't know where to get it....search the net I guess.

Foam

Try the place where you bought the vinyl. If not, go to any automotive interior supplier and ask for a"dri fast" type foam. It ain't cheap. If you cannot find it local try Active Foam Products. 3 locations - Chicago, Detroit and Milwaukee. Probably need a tax ID number tho'. Foam has doubled in price the last couple of years so have your heart med handy. :smt100

Foam

On a previous boat I owned I bought foam from a fabric store. ( standard sheet foam) Then I took my shrink wrap material and sealed it.

Never had a problem

Probally not the correct way to fix it, but it worked

Thanks for the replies...

I was talking about this at work and someone has a friend in the upholstery business. He works out of his basement. Funny thing is, he is 2 minutes away...

I'm getting all the vinyl and foam from him at a really good price compared to what I found on line. I like to be able to "touch and feel" before I buy.
