Anyone know why the unused power steering pump on a twin engined boat has a hose that goes into a metal u-bend, then on to another hose into the cooler? Does the u-bend do anything/have anything inside it?
I think my u-bend bit leaks ... or the hose near it does... so would ideally like to take it out.
Can I just cut the high-pressure hose from the pump and connect it back to the low-pressure return inlet of the pump? - Or does the unused pump itself still generate lots of heat that needs to be lost by the cooler... or pressure?
If I can't do that, can I just get rid of the u-bend by cutting the high-pressure hose before the u-bend connection and fix it to the cooler...??
Cheers,
Nigel.
