...never good. Got a call from the boat yard yesterday. It was the mechanic calling about my stern drive. Right away I knew the outcome would be either 1) expensive or 2) really expensive.
The bad news was the bearing carrier has gone bad and needs to be replaced. The good news was that it was leaking oil out, but not sea water in so no damage to the drive.
Still not great, looking about ~$800 repair if it comes out easily. I know it's not that much in boat bucks but it comes on top of bottom maintenance (blasting), canvas repair, some car repairs, and a tax bill. Sigh.
