So I purchased my baby with matching trailer (painted white with SeaRay matching pin stripe) last year with an intact but completely weather beaten used to be printed once upon a time faded VIN tag on the inside port A frame of the trailer, on the starboard side A frame are completely legible suspension and brake system labels, no fading no tears, scratches, dings nothing, they aged extremely well and all of the information is legible. But the VIN tag, yeah nothing, nothing nothing!!!!!

So I called the dealer and posted on a couple of forums and google searched without luck so I eventually broke down and called EZ loader. They told me that there was a (5) five digit number pressed/punched into the frame somewhere and if I was able to locate that number they would be able to get me all of the information that was on the original VIN tag. EZ Loader was very helpful, with the year and boat brand and length, they were able to give me the EZ Loader part number but for the VIN I needed the (5) five digit number.

So I set out on a mission and I looked for this elusive number for approximately (11) eleven months, under the frame rails, on the side of the frame rails, on the cross members, under the cross members, inside the fender well (yup I removed the wheels), behind the taillights (yup removed them too), inside the frame member where the trailer hitch is located towards the front of the trailer, under the triangular gusset that bridges/reinforces the union of the port and starboard A frames, under, around and inside the winch post, nothing, nothing, nothing, (11) eleven months of getting frustrated searching the internet, calling EZ Loader, what to do what to do??? Wait until the boat is off the trailer and check the cross member that runs between the wheels, well guess what?? Still nothing!!!! ARGHHHHHHHHHHHH

Well, I found it yesterday ............................. I actually found it, yup it was on top of the triangular gusset on the starboard side right where the base of the gusset is welded to the A frame, right near the suspension and brake system labels.

I didn't have to bend, lay on my back, contort my inflexible body, none of that, how is that possible???

I guess I need to have my eyes checked!!! I'll be able to laugh about this someday I suspect, meanwhile where is my bucket of Bengay .........

and of course it rained today so I couldn't get on the water .............................

So I called EZ Loader today armed with my hidden (5) five digit trailer id number and spoke with Mike and he was able to give me all of the information for my trailer, from the plant where it was built to where it was first sold (Peters Marine Service in PA, home of CSRs very own resident expert and all around good guy, Lazy Daze Dennis) ................................ my boat and trailer still have their original Peters Marine Service badges on them both!!

EZ Loader's customer service is awesome! They helped me out with my axle issue and were friendly, and went out of their way to make sure I got the correct axle and answered all my questions. They sent me the paint formula go I could get some paint matched for touch-up. A lot of companies customer service departments could learn from them.
