Just bought a 410 EC and it came with a cockpit ice maker made by u line. I flipped the switch to on under the grill and I am pretty sure it was getting cold but didn't do anything now I can't get it to turn on. I can't get to the outlet easily to see if a fuse popped but I tried my best to make sure wires just behind grill were tight. Am I missing something? Is there a switch or something special I need to do?

Check your gfi receptacles. I know mine is tied into the gfi receptacle in a storage compartment under my stairs. Assuming this is something standard so you don't have to remove the ice maker every time you trip the gfi.

Thanks, I will look again. I checked all the places I knew had a gfi receptacle. But couldn't find it. Maybe someone with a 410 EC might know where it is?

Mine is plugged into a 110 outlet behind the ice maker. That plug is wired to my AC power panel with a breaker labeled fridge/icemaker (the one circuit powers both).

If you want to confirm that it has power, simply remove the ice maker cover (little square cover inside the freezer box) and turn the small sprocket counter clockwise to start the ice harvesting cycle. Once you manually turn this sprocket with a screwdriver or small socket the unit will normally begin to turn on its own (as long as it has power). If it does turn, you probably have a bad thermostat which will fail to provide power to the compressor at the end of the cycle. These are very basic units but they seem pretty tough.

If you have power to the unit you may also want to check the micro switches that are behind the metal plate with the sprocket that Jim mentioned in the last post. If one of them goes bad the unit mat be stuck between cycles and not run. I found that to be the problem with mine and it was a $10 fix and has been making ice like crazy for the past year and a half. I think there are three micro switches and you can swap them around for trouble shooting purposes to see if one is bad or just put a tester on them if you have one. Mark

Rich, I saw your post as I returned from traveling. Ironically, I'm doing repairs on my aft cockpit ice maker Model SP 18WH-03 with similar symptoms as yours. As previously mentioned, after pulling the ice maker cover off, you'll see the " face plate " with two gears. Remove three screws and you'll see the " behind the scenes " guts. Due to the excessive moisture/rust condition, I've chosen to replace the face plate # 150 , $52 online. It comes with 2 of the 3 troublesome switches plus motor, gears, spring, etc. While I'm in there, I'm going to replace the " bin switch " # 2506 and the door gasket # 31493-1. These are all part of the very common U-Line #402 ice maker. Hope this helps, Tim

My uline was getting cold but no ice was coming out so I took off the faceplate removed the screws holding on the gears and manually turned them. They were rusted stuck. After I broke them free I sprayed the whole unit with cr56 put it back together and its been working great ever since.

Same fix here...corrosion on gears.
