Two missing in water off Egmont Key: July 18, 2007 11:06 AM

I was flying over the Gulf in W 470B yesterday, and spotted a disturbance over the surface from about 15,000 feet. I dove down to observe a large school of sharks attacking something on the surface. There had to be at least 30 sharks. They were all spread around in a big circle, most facing inward with several other circling the area.

The airspace is West of Tampa about 50 miles.

was it a person?
What and this didnt come out in the news? My god.. did you report it?

sharks off the coast is not big news around these parts, unless it's like it was about 2 maybe 3 years ago. when Hunderds of sharks where spotted of off ancloe key.

It was amazing as far as the eye could see nothing but sharks swimming in maybe 10 ft of water.

heck the last time I was at Passage Key I saw at least a 7 to 8 footer crusing the shoals their on the north side. so I dropped anchor on the south side and jumped in.

their everywhere especially around the skyway bridge. it's known to be a big hammer head hangout.

this is one of the reasons I like going to egmont key. the water their is so clear at least you'll see then if there in the area unlike other places where you might be jumping in on top of them.

Were you in a government owned aircraft? That must be awesome to have the ability to do that. Commercials don't fly that far out, do they? I guess you can't dip a commercial down for a look either - people'd spill their cokes.

Next time your in the neighborhood, use some super technology feature to find me a few grouper holes.
