2009 Sea Ray Sundancer 330
Engines
Mercruiser 8.1 inboard
Are my twin gas tanks linked or independent? I have a full tank of gas starboard, and 1/4 tank port. Do I need to fill port tank up completely or will the boat draw fuel from either tank?

Thanks.

Tanks are independent but if your boat has the crossover fuel manifold you can switch both motors to draw off one tank
My manifold is under the starboard cockpit step (330 ec)

post some pics of the engine compartment and we just might be able to give you an answer. Some have independent systems , some have valves to direct the fuel

Likely there is selector valve. I would check if you actually have full tank or faulty sender.

Mine are independent... no switching valves.

Previously had a Sea Ray (47db) which allowed you to switch which tank the Genset pulls from.

Never saw a Sea Ray which let you switch which tank a given engine pulls from. Just my experience, someone else may have first hand knowledge.

Go to the fuel dock, see how many gallons your port tank takes till full, compare that to tank size, should give a rough idea if the sender is functioning correctly.

This was a pic from 2002 41sd
But I have the same one on my 97 330ec .mine was under the step in a compartment in my cockpit

630 sea ray for example

Id suspect a faulty sender with the readings being that far off...

if new to you boat...go fill the tanks and document how much goes in each tank.

Thanks everyone. Will investigate further and report back.

FYI my 97 330 has valves to pick what tank each engine draws from. I thin it was an option. Never use them though.

I followed up on 3 leads from this thread, but no luck. I found no gas tank switch in the engine bay, at the helm station, or in my cabin as others posted. Might my tanks be auto controlled and auto balanced?

One helpful tip. I believe my fuel level sender in port tank is stuck, as my calculations of gas bought suggest my port tank would be 3.4 full, not 1/4, as it was before partial fueling. TY All!
