Looking for ideas on how to get better sound from onboard TV's.

I replaced the TV in the salon over the fridge, picture is fine, but the sound comes up out of the cabin hatch and interferes with the music on deck. I'm ready to add the cockpit TV. I was going to try to use Fusions to put the sound through the various speakers, but I cant have a 2 input/2 zone solution. I want to be able to listen to and control the TV/Stereo on deck separately from the TV/stereo in the cabin.

Currently thinking 2 head units, but how about sound bars?

Ideas?

Dave,
I’ve been thinking about putting a small sound bar under the salon TV. The cheapest one I saw was at Best Buy.

Sam’s had a really good sounding one for $139 I checked out the other day. We run the TV through the stereo speakers on the boat. The Samsung TV I mounted in the cockpit that we watch from the dock has the best TV speaker(s) I have ever seen. We need nothing to watch football on the dock.

I looked today at BB, a couple i think would fit. Not ure how to mount and wire. Power is an issue...

Don't laugh, We have powered computer speakers with a sub woofer. Sub is hidden in a cabinet and speakers are mounted beside the TV

Don't ask me how, but our TV can be run through our multiple speakers including the powered sub woofer. Or, it can be run through its tiny TV speakers. Both have advantages. When we watch movies we go all out. Coffee in the morning watching news...TV speakers are just fine. So, to answer the question, yes it can be done. The receiver in the salon controls the sound as well as the remote controller by the helm. Our home theater tv and surround sound system works the same way. Again, when watching the tv the tv speakers are fine. Movies require the whole nine yards.

What head/stereo unit are you using?

Head is now a Clarion which was switched during a refit done about three years ago. That is also connected to our Raymarine MFD. The MFD has limited control over the head. Once the receiver is selected, the remote control by the helm runs am/fm/DVD controls for volume, channel selection, etc. but not the satellite radio channels including that receiver. That function is controlled by the MFD and also the remote by the helm. I thought I had a pic of the set up but can't find it.
