Afternoon all! So far, things are going great with the new boat. Learning a lot and taking care of little things here and there to make her as perfect as possible. Only thing that's giving me a constant nightmare is the tv's/dvd players. Neither dvd player works, which isn't a big deal. I will replace them. Whats really annoying is the fact that I can't get any tv reception. There's a cable input in the transom locker and a gain switch near the v berth for the antenna. I've tried channel searching with the gain off and the cable hooked up and the gain on for over-the-air channels and I get nothing but static. I'm tempted to rip out everything that's there and re-run all new cable wires. But before I do that, I thought I'd make sure I'm not missing something obvious. Any suggestions?

Hello Shaun, not so lucky with the tv? Kidding. Anyway, there are old school Glomax tv antennas that were not digital. If you have one of those round flying saucer looking tv antennas and it doesn't say digital on it, it probably isn't and won't work. Somewhere around 2008, I believe, they started making them digital. Then there is the tv it's self, if it isn't digital you have to put a converter on the line.

    Good Luck

This^^ is your most likey culprit for the OTA problem. For the cable, make sure you turn off the breaker for the glomex (not just turning the gain down) so that it is completly off, then rescan for channels on the TV with the cable hooked up.

Thanks! I don't remember seeing a breaker for the glomex, but I'll check it out. I know there's a small box attached to the headliner right at the TV that appears to be a converter, but that may not be working either. Power light comes on but it doesn't seem to do anything else. I'll look for the breaker and try this before I get more pissed and start gripping and ripping cables!

    A couple of things first:

    1. The "old" Glomax antenna can and will pick up digital TV signals just fine. Mine is original to the boat (2002) and works like a champ.

    2. The 320DA does not have a separate breaker for the Glomax amp.

That said, it's worth checking to see if your TV has a digital tuner. I replaced the original TV/VCR 13" with a 22" LED set. Also be sure the coax connection at the antenna is good. I had to replace mine. If all else fails... The KVH TV1 satellite TV system I installed last year works great.

The converter box you are talking about, is factory or the last owners. If old owners, you may need to contact your cable provider, they might have to give you another box. That box is for his old marina

That makes sense. I honestly never thought of that. I assumed it was a generic ota converter. I'll look into that. Thanks!

Highly unlikely both DVD players AND TV antenna is not working. Start check wires off the back of the TV and trace the RCAs to a players. Sometimes it's just stuff that's been unplugged because the previous owner had Sat dish on the top but removed it without hooking the old stuff back up.

Your antenna is fine, like other posts, make sure your gain setting is correct if you have one. Check the cable connections, especially at the arch. Make sure your tv has a digital tuner. If not, you can buy a digital tv for about $70... I had the same prob n bought a $70 tv from Best Buy and have HD TV and get multiple channels. Have fun!

You might want to pull the little square TV out next to the galley to see if any connections came loose. There are coax splitters (2nd pic) back there that may have come loose or not be hooked up correctly. You have to take the back panel off to get to them. You will need a digital conversion box (i bought a dish version years ago) to use any signal from the Glomax. The glomax has a dimmer type switch in the little compartment under this tv. You would need to have it turned all the way up for the Glomax and off for cable.
