Absolutely. Just make sure you get the polarity correct! It matters when you are using DC. The center of the connector is positive, by the way. And I never cut up the factory wall wart/brick style power supply that comes with the TV. Why ruin something you would have to pay for twice? This was just the first online example I found of a regulated 12 volt DC to DC power supply. I like all the different tips that come with these things. They come in very handy for electronic projects around the house when I'm tinkering.
