We have a round TV antena that came with the boat. It sort of works because if I disconnect the antena from the TV I get no picture, but reception is very poor. People with rabbit reats get way better picture. Do I need a new antenna or do I have a hook up problem? I assume the antena is a 1989 vintage. There is a Ship Shore switch that when switch to shore the single drops off.

Hi Northern,

This was a post I found in ref to the TV Antena:

this from there web site:
I have a Glomex marine TV antenna and amplifier system on my 34' Sea Ray. The system performs great; however, the antenna dome has become extremely dirty and black almost like it's covered in mold. What should I attempt to clean it with? I don't want to damage it or compromise it's performance. Fantastic spray cleaner or ZEP products (a bleach) appear to have no effect on cleaning it. I believe the Glomex antenna has a life time warranty stamp on it. I would ask to replace it if I cannot clean it simply because it's appearance is so bad. Thank you.

Please call us at 508-995-7000 for a Return Authorization number, then send your antenna to Returns, Imtra Corporation, 30 Samuel Barnet Blvd, New Bedford, MA 02745. We will evaluate your antenna and send you a new unit under Glomex's lifetime warranty if it qualifies. We have seen this type of discoloration on some antennas that were made of an older inferior material. Glomex now uses a more UV resistant material.

Hi Spiro,
Just to let you know. I contacted Imtra about the Glomex 9112 antenna. I received the RA # from them. I sent the old antenna back last Wednesday and I received the new one last night at no cost. Thanks for the info.

If this is a Glomex I would try getting an RA # from them. The new antenna didn't cost me a thing and it is brand new tech. Works great.:smt038

Search Glomax on this site to read more. Bottom line is that TV signals went Digital last year and you need a digitial decoder to pick up and decode the signals. Before going digital I had crappy pictures with only 2 or 3 channels. Now I am able to pick up about 10 channels and some are in High Def. It all depends how close you are to an over the air TV antenna transmission. Not sure what you will pick up in Alaska. Good luck!
