This has not been published publicly, but wanted to share for anyone who might be on TRL from the group and be interested in participating or watching. You have to search for the private group on Facebook and request to join to get the latest details, and I am not on FB but have gotten the info from the Admiral.

Date: Saturday, September 5th, 2020
Start Time: 12:00PM
Start Location: Kimberling City Bridge (HWY 13)
End Location: Table Rock Dam (disperse around Duck Island)

Some details:
  • There will be two lead/escort boats and everyone is asked not to pass these boats unless departing the parade; to do so, move outside and steam well-outside of the parade until ahead and well clear.
  • Speed is no-wake speed for the duration of the parade. Everyone is asked to be respectful of their fellow boaters. This means that this will be quite a long event, as the route that I normally boat from location to location is approximately 13.75 miles. At 5 MPH, this event will take close to 3 hours or so I'm estimating.
  • MO State Water Patrol knows of the event and will likely be in the area so ensure you have a sober helmsman.
That is the information that I have for now. I will be sure to update if any new information comes about. Weather is supposed to be very nice this weekend after the much needed rain clears out tomorrow evening. Saturday should be Sunny and 83 F!

The weather is supposed to be great! A couple of people on our dock have been heavily involved with the planning of the event. They are supposed to announce tomorrow ( I think) who the Grand Marshal is. I think they are expecting a pretty big turnout.

Nice! We are looking forward to participating in it! I saw there was a radio DJ up in Springfield that mentioned it on his program Sunday on 104.1 FM.

There is some media coverage starting to surface on this event. For anyone on FB that wants to get the info from the horse's mouth, you can search for the group with "TRL boat parade" and it will come up. It was called something along the lines of 2020 Labor Day Boat Parade or something similar. The group has over 3,500 members already and has increased by more than 2,500 in the last week.

Pretty cool drone video that someone shot. Incidentally, I didn’t get much of a chance to take pics except for waiting at anchor before the parade started.

There was A LOT of traffic. I wasn’t too worried and most people were courteous and cautious, but from the get-go this didn’t run at no wake speed. And I’d venture a guess that most had not ever dealt with this amount of traffic or the swells before. 4th of July there is always a lot of traffic for fireworks, but those people straggle in and then it’s dark when everyone leaves so most run at idle until things clear out. Two guys at the end had some sort of boat rage going on and one guy trying to catch the other ran up my port quarter and had his bow less than three feet off my stern. I had room to starboard so I broke right to get away from him. Other than that, it was a spectacular event to participate in. An estimated 1,500 boats were in the parade! It was a sight for sure!

We didn't make it to the rally. But we ran into the remnants starting around State Park. Very choppy. But on Sunday the channel was a mess from State Park to past Indian Point. A lot of captains didn't know how to handle the huge wakes from the cruisers. Saw several smaller bow riders stuff the bow. Didn't stop people from pulling their small kids on tubes in the main channel though.

We are still at LOTO, we did not make it to this event, however, most of my friends did. Cap'n Scuba Steve, the pic you took of the 375 DA with Ms. Liberity on the bow is a good friend of mine. Great video, thanks for sharing.

Yeah, it was pretty rough out. I saw a group of people on a pontoon stuff the front of it - twice. I called out to them and told them to move everyone toward the back to help out, as they had 4 adults sitting in the front. Sunday morning we ran down to Big Cedar to meet some friends who were staying there, and then ended up in Coombs later in the day. We stayed on the boat all weekend which was great. By midday on Monday the Admiral was exhausted. We had two cars at the dock, so she headed home and my youngest and I went out for awhile. I could stay on the lake all the time if I could get away with it!

Nice! Small world and small lake! Your friends drew quite the attention having Lady Liberty up on deck!

We watched some of the parade from just south of Indian point. The waves were indeed crazy for TRL. There seemed to be a several boats beginning to peel off, when we watched. There were several boats on our dock that were in the parade, including the one that Billy Long rode on, and the captains seemed pretty tired Saturday night. When a 40’ cruiser (running on plane) went between me and a pontoon that was maybe 150-175 feet away from me, I told my wife it was time to go back to the dock.

I have seen that boat on the lake. I’ve noticed the numbering on the model. Do you know if they brought the boat from Europe/overseas?
