Truck diesel engine maintenance

My new ride pulling the 280DA for the first time! I have not regretted my purchase of the diesel engine. I'm getting 20mph driving to work and back and just got fuel today for the same price as regular unleaded! Not to mention it pulled the boat off the ramp beautifully.

Sorry for the pic quality, the sun had just set.

Looking nice, there, Mr. Tom!

How did you find diesel for the same price as regular????!!!???

So the local Shell station just a few miles from me has $.10 off Mondays on diesel fuel. That made it exactly $.20 more than unleaded gas. Then, we had a Giant (grocery store) card with $.20 off per gallon for up to 35 gallons. So I paid $3.69, the same as the unleaded gas. :smt001 And hey, you gotta buy groceries, so... it works.

I paid $4.12 here in southern Indiana Saturday. :smt013

Diesel is 4.19 here....crap!

$4.07 and going up here. I have a Dodge Cummins, I switched all of my fluids over to AMSOIL and now I get 23 MPG going 65 MPH compared to 20 MPG with conventional oils. Diesels do have extended drain intervals which is good because of the 3 gallons they take to fill them up. I change my oil once a year and my filter twice a year, I drive 25,000 miles a year. I sample my oil a few times a year and send it in to get tested and it is still good when I drain it after a a year. oh if I drive 50 MPH I get 28 MPG but I do not have the patience to drive that slow, and I don't want to be THAT driver. Towing my boat at 65 MPH I get about 13 MPG which is what my buddies V10 gets without any load. But I am not looking forward to the price of fuel this summer :smt021

Wow, that's impressive. Are your results typical, and similar for all brands of diesels? Besides oil, what other fluids did you change over?
