We will be trailering our 220SD to Chalevoix this summer for a 4 day stay. I havn't been on the lake in many years. Looking for sugestions on what to do. Are there any restaurants / watering holes on the water? We will go out to the big lake weather permitting - any close destinations that we should go to? Fireworks in Petoskey?

Thanks

Charlevoix has plenty of places to eat and have fun. You can probably get a slip there too as the city marina has been rebuilt and is bigger. There are no bathrooms however and these may not be built by the summer. The project has taken way too long. Northwest Marine may be a better choice. As for taking your boat to Petosky, that may be possible although I would check the weather very carefully before trying. Look at the chart for that area of Little Traverse Bay. It is very rocky and you will be several miles off shore to avoid rocks. The Bay gets very rough when the winds come out of the north or northwest. Even a fresh south west breeze makes 1-3 footers pretty much the norm. You could stay in Lake Charlevoix and boat down to the other end. Even that lake will get three footers on ocassion. The little town at the other end is fun to visit and there is a good city marina down there as well. Places to eat are in walking distance. You might want to drive up and look around before you pull your boat up there. It's definitely a great place to boat. It's one of the best in the world, a fresh water ocean.

Hey there,.... w've been to Charleviox many times, In July... I don't know exact dates there is a venetian festival, they have a lighted boat parade that's aweasome and they have fireworks on the weekends....Great desplay of fireworks too. you can do a lot of boating on the inland lake Charlevioz, but the big water produces some big waves quickly. The lil town at the other end that SBW1 speaks of is Boyne City... It's a great little town to visit, they have some neat shops, but its a lil stonchy... meaning Snobbish... They are trying to be Bay Harbour, which is so stoonchy it's not even funny...
(Stonchy...definition....Somewhere's were people are so uptight and fulll of themsleves, they don't notice that they look ridiculous in their PINK pants...)
Restaurants to visit would be The Weathervane in Charelviox, a bit pricey I believe though. Also Charelviox has many great stores along the lakeside streets for shopping too.
Go to Charelviox Chamber of commmerce site and they will show you when the venetia fest is.... but I will woarn you now, it's crasey that time of year and very busy.....

Write me if you need more info...
