Just a heads up for anyone interested, I'm signed up with Bahamas Toursim Boating Fling, for the last one of the season, leaving from the Bahia Mar Fort Lauderdale. Captains meeting Wednesday night July 24th, and we leave first thing (6:15am) Thursday morning July 25th, to the now renamed Resorts World Bimini- also known as Bimini Bay. To me the most luxurious resort in Bimini with great floating docks, and 2 amazing pools, including the infinity pool overlooking the ocean, as well as restaurants etc. Just found out that Genting bought Bimini Bay and the Casino is finally finished and will be open when we get there.. Should add a little extra excitement to a great trip.

So far 9 boats have signed up (including mine) and we are hoping for a few more, so anyone interested, the link for the trip is:

I've stayed at Bimini Bay quite a few times, so if you have any questions or are interested in going, please let me know.. I'm bringing my son and his friend and a few other friends of mine that have never been there. Some of us a are staying on the boat, and my friends will stay at the resort. Planning the usual trip to the Sapona semi-sunken ship for some snorkeling, and of course Honeymoon Harbor for some great rafting up and relaxing, as well as a trip into town for some Bimini Bread and Conch Salad, and hanging out at the pool and then the docks for some serious grilling and a little libation!!

Hope to see some of you CSR members new and old there!!

Barry

Re: **Trip to Bimini Bay (Now ResortsWorld Bimini) with the Bahamas Fling July 24-28t

Thought a few CSR members would want to come and explore Bimini with us....anyone??

Re: **Trip to Bimini Bay (Now ResortsWorld Bimini) with the Bahamas Fling July 24-28t

less than 2 weeks now.. So looking forward to the trip, the resort , and the waters... Guess none of my CSR friends are going, but I think 10 boats are signed up, so should be a great time... And now that the Casino is also open, should be a lot of fun at night too!

Re: **Trip to Bimini Bay (Now ResortsWorld Bimini) with the Bahamas Fling July 24-28t

Thanks JC!!! Bought a new GoPro Hero3, so will be taking a lot of video and photos and will edit and post when I get back.. Should be great!!

Re: **Trip to Bimini Bay (Now ResortsWorld Bimini) with the Bahamas Fling July 24-28t

I cant wait to see them. Also maybe a GOPRO Hero 3 review after the trip. Looking at getting one (maybe). Good luck, JC

Re: **Trip to Bimini Bay (Now ResortsWorld Bimini) with the Bahamas Fling July 24-28t

Good idea.. I absolutely love my GoPro Hero 3 Black edition- definitely worth the money- just figure another few hundred for all the different mounts, accessories and extras you end up getting so you can take it and mount it anywhere! I'm just learning the time-lapse mode and it's so cool... and the 1080p mode shoots great quality video... The free software app makes it easy to adjust, clip and work on (add slow motion etc), and then I bring it into iMovie on my Mac, and add music and edit some more... Just a lot of fun... I have an underwater housing case for my Panasonic Lumix that I have used the past few trips, but the GoPro takes much better movies for sure...

Will be in touch before we leave, and post up some photos and movies when we get back..

I am unfortunately not able to make it for July 24-28. I had heard somewhere that there might be one more in early August but can't seem to get any further info.

How was the trip ? conditions looked fine for the crossing. Anybody did the island hopper fling ? Looks interesting as a first experience into the outer islands.

Hi Guys.... I'll post some photos and video this weekend... All I can say is I've never had seas so flat there and back as this trip... Especially going back from Bimini, where following seas (less than 1') and winds pushed us towards Fort Lauderdale at about 30 MPH and from the mouth of the Bimini Channel to Port Everglades took less than 1 hour 45 min... Going over seas were 1-2 and against the wind and gulfstream, so it took longer and ate a little more gas. About 7 boats went over, and mine was the largest , with most in the 24' center console size. The Channel was well marked and the floating docks at Bimini Bay are fantastic... The infinity pool overlooking the Ocean is where we hung out when back at the resort- especially at sunset... and finally the Casino is now open as well, and while small, really nice. One day we went with some of the other boats to the Sapona- the half sunken ship to go snorkeling- was a little choppy as the winds did kick up during the day, but always a great place to go. The next day, we kept our boat at the docks and went one one of the other boats to Honeymoon Harbor... about 10 miles from Bimini and a place that a lot of boaters go for the day to snorkel, hang out and swim with the stingrays... Another great day!! Nights were spent hanging out and grilling at the docks.. and of course the trip into town for fresh Bimini Bread and some fresh Conch Salad had to be made before we left!!

More later!!

Barry, I did a quick trip over to Bimini yesterday AM and came back this afternoon. Thought about that time we met you over there. Really good markings on the channel now. New since I was there over the 4th of the July. I went on a small boat and we had one of the smoothest crossings I've ever had. Nice since June and July were pretty rough. The picture below is looking south from Big Game this morning. it doesn't get much smoother than that.
