I see two trim tab buttons - one left and one right. I can push the top or bottom of each. I'm confused about which buttons control what movement. Help!

On my Bennets the top Starboard makes the port tab go down, The top port button makes the starboard tab go down and the lower buttons raise the same tabs as the top buttons. I ended up switching mine side to side. It is probably not how they are to be but it makes it easier on me for some reason.

They were correctly installed in the first place. Simple physics.

For example, If you want the starboard bown to come down while on plane, you do it by deploying the port tab. Lowering this tab will cause the port stern to rise, which actually causes the starbord bown to come down at the same time.

I know they were right, Just put them how I liked them. Maybe next season I will switch them back.

They are installed "backwards' for the ease of use. If you want the port bow down then push (tap) the port button down. This will actually force the starboard tab down which in turn pushes the port side down.

When I got my first twin engine boat, I was confused about the tab buttons too. They seemed to be backwards. So I had my wife push the top and bottom of each button while I got out behind the boat and watched what the tabs did with each press of the buttons. Figured it out from there and had no problem since. That's just the way I am . . .

One more suggestion

It is important to understand the logic and physical aspect of how tabs work, however I prefer to keep it really simple, and do not worry so much about the nautical terms of port and starboard for the moment, as it applies to the inverse functioning of trim tabs.

push top of right button--right bow goes down
push bottom of right button--right bow comes up
push top of left button--left bow goes down
push bottom of left button--left bow comes up

Once on plane, I retract the tabs completely. Less drag the better.
