I have1 tab that keep sliding out of the grove. It moves about 1 inch of center. I can move it back with a rubber mallet but I afraid it's going to break the acuator mount. Can this be repaired or do I need to replace it?

You should be able to smack it back in position. If they are like mine, check the hinge itself. There should be a small tab on the part that attaches to the stern (I don't know the technical term) that bends over the hinge and holds the tab in place.

My trim tab hinge is like a tongue and groove setup. The trim tab slides into the grove of the transom mount. The ends of grove are pinched to prevent the tab from sliding out. You can try and pinch the grove closed some more by a a big pair of pliers (need leverage to pinch) or hit the end of the grove with a small punch and hammer.

All of the answers above are right on target.

There is a little tab at the end of the hinge plate that needs to be bent up a little bit to prevent the Trim Plane from sliding out.

You can see it here in this CAD image, note that it is "uncrimped" in this image.

So you should be able to bend it up a bit to lock the Trim Plane in place.
