After talking about it for a 1 1/2 years I broke down and purchased some trim tabs. I'm planning the install and had a question about some wires.

I was planning on installing the pump near the fresh water tank. I need to attach the pump to a negative connection. With the engine compartment open I see on the transom wall what looks like a electrical bus or bar.

Does anyone know if this is negative and not positive?

Thanks

That would most likely be a negative bus bar. Does it have black or yellow wires attached to it?

Hopefully, you bought Bennett trim tabs, as they're a fine product with a very fine customer service department.
If I were you, I'd contact our member "Tabman", either on this forum or at: Tmcgow@bennetttrimtabs.com
As far as the wiring bus that you are referring to, it sounds like you are describing the "bonding" bus, which is usually at the transom, and many times it has green wires attached to it, and it is not meant to be tied into.
You'd be better off grounding at your battery negative terminal.

Yes- I did buy Bennett tabs and I'm very happy with the customer service. I orignally got the M120 tabs but becasue of the shape of the transom the 12 x 12 would fit better. Bennett is swaping the plate at no cost.
