I am being told that to repair one of the trim rams that the engine must be removed.... I am finding this hard to believe that this is justified!

The boat is an 06' 300 Sundancer.

Yea going with false on this as well. Just got a quote to do this and for the price there is no way the engine was going to be removed....

They are on the sides of the drive, and the only thing going into the ER are the hydraulic lines. Just remove the lines and the ram will unbolt and you have it loose ready to rebuild in your garage or shop, or take it to a marine mech.

On the Volvo drives, which mine has. It is a strong possibility. A friend of mine (that I bought my boat off) is the state distributor for Volvo Penta.

I have aslo been under with a hookah dive system to confirm which ram is leaking and to check it out, I wanted to check if it would be possible for me to pop the ram off in the water..........NO

The rear pin is fine, however the inner or lower pin is in a ***** of a position. The instruction to remove it is with a grease gun, to force pressure in and push the pin out. If the pin in siezed, or wont move for any reason.....then leg off.

The other possibility is to rekit the ram without removing it, so only the front pin is removed, the issue here is relying on the cylinder not being to coroded internally.
