The oil in my trim pump is milky; is there a way you can drain the oil or do you have to suck it out?

I just drained my fluid out. I removed the cannon plug (three wire plug), the positive and negative cables, trim lines, and unscrewed the bracket from the floor. I removed the entire assembly from the boat and drained it on the workbench. I have to send mine in for repair because the trim was bleeding down. When I drained the fluid, I had alot of sludge in the bottom of mine. It was suggested that the sludge was due to parts in my trim system wearing out over 25 years of use. Anyways, back to your point, depending on the type of pump you have (metal or plastic reservior) it might be easier to do it on the bench. Mine is a metal canister and it was held to the pump with one screw directly centered on the bottom of the canister. Doing it on the workbench was messy and would have been messier if it ended up in the bilge.
