I have a 2004 280. I recently replaced the gimbal swivel pin and had to remove the gimbal ring and bell housing. I used a torch to heat the swivel pins and made sure the trim limit and sender wires were well out of the way. I double checked to make sure I didn’t melt any of the wires. I put it all back together. I put the trim limit and sender switches exactly where they were. I went to trim up the outdrive and all I hear is a loud click coming from the trim pump. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Should have stated in the original post its just one loud click.

Check the solenoid and the connection on them it.
You can easily jump the solenoid with a screwdriver to see if that makes it go up.
There are plenty of images of wiring diagrams for them on the internet that will help you identify which wires do what and Help you figure out how to jump it.
If it doesn’t work when you jump it, then you need a solenoid, if it does work when you jump it, try cleaning or replacing the connectors.

Will do! Thanks you for your response. I hope I didn’t screw up the trim limit when I reinstalled it. But I will definitely try jumping it.

My alpha drive did the same thing this past summer. It ended up being the up solenoid. It is fairly easy to replace and inexpensive

Thanks, I hit the trailer up switch and both out drives went up. I also turned both batteries on, so I’m not sure if it was the batteries or the trailer up reset something. But your probably right, the solenoid is probably going.
