Hi all,
New to the boating world today - picked up a 1995 Sea Ray 195. So far I love it, but I have a small issue I am trying to resolve.
The trim sender and limit units have been replaced, but currently, each unit has the two wires (2 males for the sender unit and 1 male/1 female for the limit unit) dangling inside the engine compartment. I cannot seem to find where to connect the wires.

To add to this, the trim Down works on the throttle and the trailer trim (up) works, but the trim UP on the throttle does not work. Also, the trim gauge is not working. I imagine this is all the result of the wires not being connected.

So long story short, can anyone help me figure out where these four wires for the sending and limit unit go ?? Thanks !!

Should be two sets of wires with bullet connectors coming out of the wiring harness on the engine. One set for the limit switch, one for the gauge. I can recall what colors they are - sorry was at the boat today and could have looked. If yours are there and unhooked, they should be laying somewhere on the rear of the engine.

1 goes to the wire harnes and 1 goes to the pump. Trim guage is harnes limit switch is pump.

So from a brief inspection this morning, it seems as though i have 5 unpaired female ends in the engine compartment.

There is a pair (purple/yellow and black) near the top of the engine, and there is a brown/blue wire that has a 90 degree plug also on the same harness. There is also a brown/blue wire with the 90 degree plug attached to the top portion of the engine, so i am not sure if this is just an extra plug?

There is also a double light blue and a purple wire near the bottom of the engine compartment that comes out near the battery.

It seems like i may have a bit of a mess on my hands with all the splice connectors, etc. Any body know what these empty connectors go to so i can rule some of them out?

Only one of those connectors are factory. Do an online search for Mercruiser Trim and Limit Sender and many results will pop up. You need a wiring diagram for that system and you are going to need to trace some wiring by color and not by connector. Have fun.

The 90° looks like the coolant temp sensor wire on the thermostat housing.

1 pair go directly to the pump. the other pair connect at the rear of the engine, not the middle of a valve cover. That 90* has nothing to do with it.

90 is either a coolent enginr sensor for temp or for engine temp gauge. Is it by therm housing?
