Receiving a Trim Fault warning and beep with cruising at about 15 mph. Had the marina look at it and they said the trim funcion on the out drive is working properly but thought maybe there could a defective sensor(s) in the out drive.

$420 to replace both due to need to remove the outdrive, is this necessary or do I just live with the warning until fall?

My Alpha drive is held on by six very easy to reach bolts (if I recall correctly) Time to remove is about 6 minutes.

I made the mistake of letting a dealer replace a trim sender unit. They charged $400+ with the boat already out of the water. Sender didn't work that well even after they replaced it.

My personal experience is that these are pretty flakey devices. I now ignore them. Your milage may vary.

do a search for re-calibrating the smartcraft........I believe Dave S had a post on this as well.
I also have a procedure somewhere on the process to reset....Pm me

Thanks, found the thread about re-calibrating and will do that this weekend.:smt101

Yup, I agree. I have replaced mine twice now (warranty paid) and my boat is a 2007!

You can also turn them off in the Smart-Craft set-up. The boat needs to be out of the water to replace, they are just a couple screws on the Alphas.

Hopefully that is the issue, I chased a trim sensor problem for months. It ended up being a throttle adjustment "shift anticipation switch" adjustment.

Good luck!
