I was doing some research, and my 1976 Sea Ray has the trim cylinders part number 98704-1 and it should be 45706A14. I believe a previous owner replaced the original cylinders with cylinders from a newer model. Will this cause problems with the pump?

thanks

This aint a lot of help but if the trim cyclinders are from an Alpha 1 Gen 1 (I don't think Gen two ones would fit) then the primary diference was that the cylinder extended further to give the leg an extra 6 degrees of tilt, concern being, does the geometry of the gimbal ring on the MR leg permit this. There is a very obvious visual diffence between the rams in so much as the older ones for the MR units are actually cylindrical tubes whereas the newer ones are shape castings with power trim XD decals on them. There were various pumps used over the years but the era of your boat I think same pump was used for some time. If it works, it's probably ok but this is really a question for a Merc specialist.

Best of luck
