Transom mounted grill side tables

Just mounted mine up yesterday. Everyone is very impressed with the finish and workmanship.

Nice job Todd.

Thanks Mike

Todd-

What is great about my setup is that I can tilt the table up out of the way to get into the transom locker without removing it.

Yes you're railing is on the transom not on the transom locker door like mine it. I haven't tried to open the door with it on yet.

Ended up with a propane leak at the house this week. 200 gallons at $4.30 a gallon gone in 4 days! I abandoned the line and moved the main closer to the house and will have them bring in two 120 gallon tanks instead of my 500 gallon tank in the driveway that is fugly anyway. Didn't get a chance to go to the boat to try the table out and do other maintenance since the was golf yesterday and gas line this morning. Next weekend for sure since I have trips planned on the boat the following 2 weekends!

Off to do some weed whacking!

Ouch Ken! Well it could have been much worse... get some boat time soon my friend!

I'm sorry to hear that Ken. Sounds like you have a handle on it now though.

Should have filled it with another 500 gallons and lit some candles! I would love to take pictures of the house rolling down the hill while on fire...

I'd look through that album... I am glad that you caught it and are safe... Propane is nothing to mess with.

Todd. What a great idea for a use of space that, for the most part, goes unused. My table looks great! Thanks again. For those looking... I asked Todd to make mine 3" shorter in the hopes that it would fit in the Magma carrying case side compartment. Well...it sure does. Keep the ideas coming Todd. Sincerely, Brian

The wood table is sure nicer looking than the transom tables made by Taco,Magma and others that have been available for years. Nice work. I think Chaparral has had the pedestal mount grill option since the late 90's on some of their cruisers.

Todd, I added longer poles but forgot to measure them for you. I'll try to remember this weekend. I did notice that after using it on the transom handle, the legs no longer clip into the plastic for storage. Any suggestions? I was thinking of getting a couple of additional plastic hold-offs and attaching them to the middle of the table bottom.

Ken
Are the longer tubes 1" vs. the 7/8" I sent? I suppose not since 1" wouldn't fit if he angled base. Is your transom handle 1"? It looks great though

The transom handle, I believe, is 7/8". My bow rails are larger and I believe they are 1". It may be possible that where it clips gets into the curved portion of the handle, not sure. I think I will just add 2 more clips for leg storage only.

Ok, or you could reposition the clips toward the center more. If you do make sure you pre-drill, that stuff will snap stainless fasteners if you just try to screw them in dry.
It's a great looking boat Ken.

Ken, great looking setup. I can't see 100% but it looks like the right table leg is up against the letter "B". If it is, I would suggest moving it slightly, b/c with time it'll most likely start waring off the sensitive material. The other leg looks too close to letter "A", but it could be just the angle of the picture. In any event, if it's on it I'd move it to preserve the name.

Keep in mind the table won't be there permanently, but I get your point. The pressure will be light and the rubber feet I provided are pretty soft.

Is it me, or is anyone thinking about using this concept in a drop down design to potentially create a free standing seat? Not sure if the handle or the transom door could support more than one person, but fun to think about.

Todd, as you know this is like designing and installing the name decal. It's a royal PITA to make everything fit perfectly between all the lock, seams and handles. I think it'll benefit you and all you customers if you account for measuring the names to make sure that the logs do not land on any part of the name. I totally understand that this is a temp installation. However, I can imagine that when the table leg rubs against the name for a long time (it could take a season or two), it will develop some ware on the decal.

Just thinking loud in effort to help.
