I have been told that with the 7.4l engine on the 31-34's in the early 2000 models, that the transmission does not go from forward to reverse quickly or the transmission breaks. marina told me they have done 4 this year. dealership tells me that this is not true. Any thoughts?

At what RPM are you going from forward to reverse quickly? At my idle around 850 RPM I can go from forward to reverse in two clicks with no horrible sounds, very smooth. Now its not an instant transition but its quick.

Now there are no precautions that I am aware of if the engines are turning around 1000-1100 and I would never do a manuver like that then. Some one posted the name for it a while ago but anything above those RPMs and yes I believe I would be replacing a transmission... I think it was a high speed shift or something. Yep that would inflict some damage for sure.. I would imagine... I am not trying to find out either!!!
