Transmission Fried

This is the second time the transmission on my 2001 410DA has overheated to the point that the dipstick has melted. The first time was when it had only 10 hours on the boat in it's first year of operation. I only have about 500 hours on the boat now. Is there any PM that I can do on the transmission? Since the one transmission is fried should I service both?

Also is there a possibility to install a temperature sensor in a ZF transmission?

Have you checked transmission coolers, they may be clogged. Are your oil levels full. I have seen low oil levels cause overheating.
