Does the transducer tell me the depth of the water plus my draft? In other words is there 3ft of water beneath my boat or am I in 3ft of water?

If you set it to account for the draft then it will tell you that otherwise it’s just reading the depth from wherever it is. Depending on which make and model depth/fish finder you have a keel offset and other related settings can be employed to make it read whatever is necessary

The manual for your sonar should give you directions on how to set it up. No manual ? Google is your friend for that.

As others pointed out, that is a functions of the settings in the head unit, not the transducer, itself.

However, you figure this out without any manual or wifi find a relatively shallow area where you can manually measure the depth and compare to the head unit. A rope with a small weight would work.

As I read once, one of the 10 rules of boating, a depth gauge simply confirms that you have run aground.
Know via charts and experience where you are and your heading. By the time you get a depth reading at 3 feet, you’re too late.

Good advice!
