Hi, I have bought a Humminbird HDR 650 for my 2009 175 sport. The manual says I can mount it on the transom or in the hull with epoxy resin. Its just s depth reader not a fish finder. My question is, shall I mount it on the transom or in the hull? If in the hull where abouts should it be mounted? Thanks

I would mount it on the right side of the transom. The thru hull is difficult to install properly to get a good reading.

I have two transom mount on my '09 175 Sport. One on the left is for the dealer option depth gauge and the one on the right is for the Garmin 441s I bought. Both locations work great at all speeds and hardly ever put out an inaccurate reading.
