Dumb question I'm sure. I'm replacing a 3 light/bulb Lexan running light on the rear most crossmember on a Shorelandr. Found it in a thread here from Sierra.

The existing shattered unit looks to have brown running light lead from trailer soldered into this unit up under some plastic, coming in from the LEFT. Ground is through a mounting hex screw.

Can I use a wire screw or shrink tubing stuff after soldering together the existing trailer brown lead and the brown lead provided with this new unit? Wondering how watertight electrical needs to be. Seems intuitive to me that I'd be blowing fuses or having problems unless I'm pretty dry. I leave trailer lights plugged in when launching btw.

I'm looking for the right way to do this and not the easy out. Unfortunately this new unit has the brown lead coming from the RIGHT with about 1.5 ft of wiring. My existing broken unit and trailer brown wiring is coming through the frame on the left.... so I don't think I can re-solder up under this plastic but need to provide a splice/fix somewhere. Maybe solder, shrink and jam back into the frame?

Water tight is your goal. Shrink tubing is good. Even better is the kind that has the hot-glue on the inner wall.
