We trailer our boat and the water is getting a little chilly to be stepping in everytime we launch or retreive. I was wondering if anyone out there has ever used a trailer walkway? How did it work for you?

after little practice you should be able drive your boat on trailer far enough to be able to put line/strap on your bow eye without stepping into water - I don't recommend to do that with bunk trailers but works great with roller trailers

same with launching the boat - leave some slack on line and let boat float away from trailer - you need to back up far enough into water or step on breaks to help boat roll of the trailer

you need two people for both procedures: car/truck driver and someone on the boat

We have a bunk trailer. My partner is afraid of the low water situation and ramps at Lanier and doesn't want to back off the ramp into mud. So...she's stepping into the water. I just thought the walkway would be a better idea.

If the water is low, as I understand it is in the SE pretty much everywhere, I agree about not backing too far in. It can be messy and tear things up.

I'm not sure I know what you're talking about with a "walkway". I launch and load mine a lot solo and don't really have a problem walking on the trailer or, although it's tricky, getting form the ramp to the trailer I have to step up on the rear tire of the Excursion then walk my way around to the bumper. Certainly a trick but I haven't fallen yet.

Otherwise, wear something that allows you to roll them up and get your feet and legs chilled. It's good for the heart!
