Hello everyone. We just got a new to us, but used 2007 240 Sundancer and we love it. We upgraded from a 21' bowrider. I have been reading the forums and have learned a ton so thanks for all the good info that is being passed around. I want to get a trailer for this boat. The marina that we purchased the boat from recommended a Venture VATB 7225 tandem axel aluminum bunk trailer. Seems like a great trailer. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated as there are many manufactures out there. The trailer is mainly for winter storage and maybe a trip or two during the season so I don't think I need a roller trailer. The boat is in the water in our slip the rest of the time. We will rarely trailer it around.

Welcome, an excellent choice of Sea Ray, we have had ours for over two years and love it. We trailer constantly here and have had no problems at all. The dealer took the time to set up the trailer properly and we just glide on and off everytime. Our model is the Magic Tilt TML 2473 and seems to be comparable with the trailer you are looking at.

We also sell Venture. You'll be fine with that trailer. By the way, even if you trailer a lot, a bunk trailer is perfectly fine. In fact, unless you're launching/retrieving in very shallow water, there really is no need for a roller... unless you just happen to like more upfront costs and maintenance costs. :smt001

thanks for the good advise. I am going to go with the Venture. Not cheap though.

It may be the least expensive you sell but $4000 is not cheap. At least not to me!

Oh, I misunderstood you. I thought you meant you were paying too much. And, no, it's not the least expensive/cheapest trailer I sell. And, in case you were wondering, I'm not looking to steal a sale away. I was just concerned that you might be overpaying.

i had the Venture VATB7000 for my 2003 240DA and it worked beautifully. I preferred the bunk trailer over the rollers because it held the hull more evenly where i have seen roller trailers put a lot of pressure on small spots on the hull. If i remember correctly, the trailer was about $3500 brand new.

I considered the venture trailer for my 290 but think I have ruled it out based on spring suspension versus torsion axles. Not to hijack the thread but any advice on this thought process would be nice.

I have a King trailer. Love it. It's galvanized. I looked at the Venture website to see what you are getting. A couple of things popped out. Make sure you get a 2 5/16" coupler. For the weight you'll be tugging you'll want bigger. Also, the poly covered bunks they show are similar to the "Glide King" bunks I have it appears. This really make launching and retrieving very easy. Also, make sure they include stainless steel disc brakes. The section on brakes indicatied they don't put them on "Water" trailers? That doesn't make sense. Also make sure they have brakes on all axles.
I also have torsion axles which make for a smooth ride

I have a MTilt aluminum with torsion bar suspension. I would recomend the TBs if you are doing any regular hauling. In salt water you better use aluminum and a new practice I picked up, washing it down with salt away after each dunking. After three years I have replaced all rims and the brake system and am about to replace the axles. New trailer $4,500. Parts into the rebuild $2,250 so far. It's not cheap if you want to trailer at all. The admiral says I should just leave the boat in the marina but what fun would that be. LOL
