I just purchased ShoreLand'r Delux Bunk Load Guides. Does anyone have any experience with these guides? I like to put in on the TN river right below the Dam System. If the generators are running the current can be swift at times. From what I have read this looks like it will help.

Any feedback or concerns I should have?

Thanks

I did not have guides on the trailer for my 23' Cobalt and I often had to go back into the water to re-settle the boat on the trailer. I had guide rails on the my 24' Sea Ray and my 26' 4Winns. Guide rails help a lot. You won't be disappointed IMO.

Don't have any, but I've always thought about them. I do a lot of loading and unloading by myself and on some of the steep grade ramps in the area can be a real pain if there is a current or wind.

I put guides on 2/3 the way through last season. I won't be without them for a trailered boat. We launch & retrieve every weekend.

With a fast current current such as I experinced this weekend they help out a lot. They will hold your stern in as you pull out of the water with the trailer. Go slow and the boat should settle right into the bunks. Also check for sharp objects on the bunks before using them. My guides had two screws in the tops. I was a slow learner on this one and now have 3 scratches on my boat before I figured out what was causing the problem.

With high winds and currents, you just have to pull the trailer out a little farther after you've gotten the bunks wet. That way when you crank her on the trailer it won't move as much and the weight of the boat will center it, which removes the effect of wind and currents. It does mean your right arm (or left or both) will get a little bit of a workout, but who gets enough exercise this day and age anyway??

Trailer Guides are great specially in current and wind. If you can get the bow of the boat on the inside of one you will have no problem getting the boat on the trailer and straight it works as a great pivot point. They are sturdy enough (atleast mine are) to use them to keep the bow from blowing away from the trailer while I get it lined up and straight.

Yeah....I really like them trailer guides. After a day on the water suckin' down a 12 pack or 2, with them things stickin' outa the water I have no problem hittin' that ol' trailer. Before I used to sometimes miss the whole dang trailer an, put the boat right up the ramp.

Now, I just get back 'bout a quarter mile or so and get that sucker up to ramming speed and....zip, right up that ol trailer jus' slicker 'a deer guts on a door knob. Had to replace a few of them things they put up there at the end to stop the boat, though. They otta make them things a bit sturdier, doncha know. Darn near took out the window of the truck once and coulda knocked out the wife's tooth.

Seriously, the first guy to add them deserves a medal.

Did I miss somthing between these two post. 1st one you said they are good, the second one sound like they are not good?

lol chuck.. I think he was alluding to the possible scenario that led up to the invention. Per his last line and the previous post, yeah I think he likes them

Do you have the link on these guides??
I launch and retrieve every weekend as well and at times by myself. We have swift current at times and the launch I use is on the elbow of the river.....Fun!

A link to see them or a link to buy them?

Overtons, WestMarine, BoatUS all come to mind for getting them or any marine trailer company near you should be able to set you up.

What I saw recently that's nice and Overtons has them is nice padding and covers for the guide posts.

Thanks for the defense Larry. I do like trailer guides. And Indian guides, tour guides, fishing guides, hunting guides, guide dogs....

Not everyone gets my sense of humor.

Chuck, self guided tours are my favorite.

Jar, well done. You're as twisted as me.
