Tragedy 2 miles from our marina in NJ

A true mystery at this point. Cold water is not a friend. Prayers for his wife & family.

That's a very sad situation. Would you please keep us posted on what they find with the boat and what the outcome of an investigation turns up. Maybe there's something there we can all benefit from.

So I guess I am the only one thinking (or at least willing to write it down) there is a remote possibility that the experienced captain is still alive and the sinking of the boat is part of a plan. The reason I am open to that is it happened in Beaufort, SC six years ago with a lawyer I had planned to use for the closing on the house down there. He up and disappeared during the sinking of his boat about a week before my closing. Turned out he faked it and got caught in Canada I believe.

Boat was raised Monday - apparently no signs of structural/hull damage. Unfortunately, the captain's body was found on the shore line this morning.

That inlet where his boat sank,Great Egg Harbor, is known to be one of the worst on the entire east coast of the country - or so I've been told by several long-haul captains who have worked up and down the entire coast. Hope investigation yields some answers for the family.

So sad, and so sorry to hear, prayers for the family and friends.

I wonder what could have shreaded the running gear? If it was rough and he lost power and steering the seas must have enveloped him, horrifying.

What a horrible story. My prayers to his family and friends. I hope they would be able to tell what really happened.
