Towing - Bimini Up, Down, or Sideways?

Ollie - Thanks. But, what do you mean by "lowered"? Do you have a lower position or do you just lay them down on the boat/cover?

I pull the pins and lay the tops in the boots on the floor of the boat for the 2 hour trip home
Dvx216 - Thanks. By "down" do you mean you put the bimini in the boat or lay it down?

Dennis - Thanks, but don't miss my edit to my post: Edit: Plan B - Just extend the charger's plug to the anchor locker and coil it up there with just enough length to get to the marina's shore power. Open the locker, run the cord out and plug it in, and close the hatch. No sparks in the boat, and no need of an extension cord to find a place to store.

Got it. Thanks.

To close out this thread, IT WORKS! Here's a shot of the short legs installed and the bimini dropped as looooow as it'll go. What you can't tell from this angle is how high the bimini is compared to the windshield. But with the trailer level the top of the bimini is 88" above the driveway and the top of the windshield is 89" above the driveway.

And things are quite solid. However, I'm going to put bungee cords from the drive-on guides to the top, for two reasons: First, that will stop any tendency for the top to swing from side to side. Second, it will keep some tension on the guides so they don't rattle around. Two for the price of one.

And, here's a pic of the lower eye where it attaches to the fitting on the boat. As you can see, the lower eyes on my boat have the tang bent to allow them to lean inboard. And that bend works perfectly with the short legs, as you can see below. There is no bind on either the upper or lower eye, and it just FITS.
