Welcome Peter!!

Where are you from. I feel for you if your government requires you to affix such a large and ugly ID number to your boat :smt089

What does MvDB mean?? Most Valuable Dust Buster??? Juuust kidding !!!

WELCOME again !!!

Thanks,

Yes I come from the Netherlands (Holland) in Europa.

And we have to put this number on because of the speed of the boat.

Indeed very ugly :smt009

Na ja ... man schlaegt sich so durch hier in den Vereinigten Staaten ...

Good to have the "old Country" represented!

To Peter.....
And we have to put this number on because off the speed off the boat.

How fast to you have to go to have smaller numbers? I assume slower.

What if you had a really fast tiny boat?

Congrats on having a beautiful set of islands in the Caribbean....BON DIA

Hello BON DIA,

Doesn't matter if it's a small or a big boat but when the boat can go faster than 16MPH than you need a registration so that means a number on your boat.

The size of the letters is a percentage of the length of the boat with a minimum and a maximum size of course.

I think it's normal that a boat need a kind of "number plate".
Only I think that every boat needs registration for several (safety) reasons.

You can report for example if somebody do crazy things with there boat.

What are the rules in the USA?
