Been working on this deal for a few weeks, finally got it done and over with and the broker dropped it off last night!

Was sitting shrinkwrapped in storage for about a year and a half after the owner upgraded to a bigger boat last spring, so it was a mess.

Here she is as of 7:30am today:

It looks a lot worse than it was, though! It'll clean up really well. I mostly worked on the hull today as the rest of the week is supposed to rain, and what vinyl I can't clean out in my garage I can do underneath the camper top.

I wish I had some "after" pictures, but I spent a good 13 hours cleaning it up today and by the time I finished it was too dark. But, I did get the outside shining like it's brand new. Hopefully the rain isn't too bad tomorrow morning so I can snap a few pictures of it cleaned up

As for the engine, everything looks good. The sea trial went really well, fired right up as soon as the broker turned the key. The engine itself is super clean. The previous owner really took good care of the boat, supposidly he's had it for over 15 years.

The biggest problem I found with the boat during the buying process was the prop was a little dinged up and had a small crack. The broker sent it out to get reworked, and it looks good as new. However when I went to see how the seat looks when it's laid flat, I found two props sitting under there, one still in an unopened package!

This is my first boat, so I'm pretty stoked. I have to have it ready for launching on May 3 though so I really have my work cut out for me! :wow:

Congrats on getting a boat. I learned to waterski behind a boat just like that.

You may consider making some adjustments to the trailer to prevent damage. I'd go with bigger bow rollers at the front and get a roller under the front where the hull is sitting on the frame. You can also adjust the bunks a little to get some space up there.

That hull will shine up nicely, too. I like the lines on the hull from those years. Here are some before/after pictures after working with some compound on an '84 210 that I picked up on eBay a few years ago...

your from Mechaniville! this should be right up your alley.

haaaa. The Daily Show on comedy central actually did some "toss a dart at a map and drive there" bit a few years back, and came to Mechanicville. They eventually made their way to one of the auto garages in town and interviewed the owner, asking what he thought about being a mechanic in Mechanic-ville. He didn't seem to catch the joke at all. Simple town, simple folk, but it's cheap and safe and you can park boats on your front lawn and no one cares

Is the trailer a big deal if I'm only using it to store the boat on? The hull is actually clearing that piece in the front by a little more than an inch though it's not obvious in the pics. I have a slip for the summer, so aside from trailering it a few miles down to the marina, the only other time it'll ever see the trailer is when it's pulled for winter storage.

That 210 looks good! I think mine came out pretty good as well, but it's been raining all day so I'm not sure how much of the shine is my doing and how much is just from being wet. Forecast for the next couple days turned favorable though! It should clear up tomorrow and I'll grab a few "after" pics.

I'm picking up a couple mounts for the front bimini tomorrow (the two mounts on the middle of the sides of the windshield were plastic and broken) and that should cure the saggyness of the top. All the canvas is only a couple years old, but will need to hit it with some canvas stuff as water was dripping through in a few spots.

Then all that's left is cleaning up allllllllll the vinyl, maybe another coat of "Race Glaze" on the hull, and I should be good to go for the weekend

Nice boat!, I have the very same one, I am prepping it for sale since I went a little larger and newer. Mine has the 260 H.P. 350, i've had it four years, I think you will find for its size that handles very well and has a great deal of room. I think Sea Ray had a great interior layout those years. Keep an eye on the floor near the front storage near the walk-thru, they become a little soft there. Service it, clean it, change the impeller, and enjoy it. My family has alot of great memories and my four kids learned to water ski on ours. Please post some after pics.

I have the 228hp in mine, plenty enough for now with the price of gas the way it is :smt021

The sun broke out when I was leaving for work so I grabbed my little camera and snapped a couple "after" pics. It's good enough for now, could be better but I'm sure what I'm noticing is just nitpicky stuff that no one else will.

Pulled all the cushions and the engine cover out and hit them with an array of chemicals and cleaners. Was racing the clock though so I didn't even think of getting pics of that. They cleaned up pretty decently, those Mr Clean "Magic Erasers" things worked miracles! There's still some stains and spots that won't come out, but hey for vinyl that's almost as old as I am, they look good enough.

Tomorrow it should be decent weather, will be up bright and early to hit the interior vinyl and the two lounge seats. The canvas had some leaky spots after all the rain we had, so I need to pick up some sort of treatment for it (suggestions, anyone?)

Saturday can't come soon enough!
