Any guesses for a ice out date on Lake Minnetonka?

I am predicting March 30, 2010.

This reminded me of an episode of one of my favorite shows.

Northern Exposure, Spring break. (Temporary madness sweeps through Cicely as the townfolk await the ice meltdown and the arrival of spring.)

I have several friends with boats on the river and have enjoyed cruising and parking on the sand bars. I live 3 minutes from my dock on Tonka. Its impossible to give up the convenience of jumping on the boat whenever I want to. There are definitely 2 different vibes between the river and the Lower Lake but it fits me fine. I just love being on the water.

Ditto. I am less than 15 mins from my boat. The river is great but the convenience is hard to pass up.

Grays Bay was open as of yesterday. All ice might be gone by the end o the weekend!!!!!:smt038

Wow! They officially announced it? I was told there were some pretty good size sheets of ice floating in Brown's Bay yesterday as well as Wayzata.

Good luck with the launch!

Define "announce". I was"put in" in west arm and had clear sailing all the way to St. Albans bay. There was still some ice in the main lake but the wind was pushing pretty hard to keep it on the North side. I got my boat house cover on just before the rain started. A pretty cool time of year to be on the lake. No buoys or leaves on the trees. Lots to see and lots of trouble to get into!

We were at Maynard's tonight and it looked great. Soft water everywhere in sight! See you on the Sandy side...and watch out for that Sunseeker behind you.
